Can Anyone Learn to Sing?

One of the questions I get asked often is “can anyone learn to sing?” I really believe that the answer is yes. Although so many people believe that you have to be born with a natural talent, the truth is that it can be taught no matter how old you are.

Getting Lessons

Although the answer to “can anyone learn to sing?” is yes, the truth is that it depends what methods you use. Lessons aren’t always the best way to learn, as it depends on the way you learn best and also your budget (lessons can be costly).

But I’m Tone Deaf!

I hear this one so often too –“but I’ll never sing – I’m tone deaf!” This really doesn’t exist. OK, some people are worse at singing than others, and will sing badly out of tune, but the truth is that most people who claim they are tone deaf truly aren’t. It just takes some training to learn more about being in pitch and you will eventually rectify your mistakes.

Getting Started

Instead of thinking about whether or not you’ll be able to learn, the best advice is just to get started. If you never try, you’ll never know whether you could do it! And you won’t be perfect right away, but who cares? With regular practice you’ll keep improving but, more importantly, singing is such a fun pursuit. When you sing, you’ll make yourself happy.

So my greatest advice for you if you’ve been asking “can anyone learn to sing?” is to stop asking and start doing. If you can’t afford a local singing teacher then check out Singorama for one of the most comprehensive courses I have seen.
